What is blockchain anyway?
If you don’t normally play buzzword bingo, it is possible that you haven’t heard of blockchain. But if you work in the tech world, you’ve probably at least heard of it although maybe you don’t know what it is all about. If that is the case, you’ll have to keep waiting because I’m not about to go into details here :).
One thing about blockchain I will mention is that it allows for decentralization of data, which is a property leveraged by these services which are based on blockchain and related technology.
Blockstack
Blockstack is a decentralized computing network and app ecosystem that puts users in control of their identity and data. This is the basis of all of the other apps and services mentioned. They claim you can build a blockchain-powered app in as little as an hour. You need to create an identity with Blockstack which you can then use with the services below.
Runkod
Decentralized Web Hosting. From what I can see, this is a basic, yet free static web hosting service built on the Blockstack distributed file storage called Gaia. I don’t think it offers any features beyond raw file hosting and SSL certificates, but in a lot of cases that is all you need.
NoteRiot
NoteRiot is the easy to use note keeping app. Organize your notes and lists on any device. Always private, always secure. This seems to be an alternative to Google Keep or Evernote, but blockchain style.
Sigle
A new amazing way to create decentralized blogs. Again, another way to create content and share it, without giving control to some ‘big company’.
